We’re a family made up of two smelly dogs, one damaged cat, two good boys, one nice lady, and one goofy man. We live in Texas. This is our blog.

Bad Chemicals, the name of the blog, comes from Kurt Vonnegut. Vonnegut says bad chemicals are the stuff of insanity.

Bad chemicals are very much the us, this family, which is to say we’re out of our noodles. But don’t worry. We’re garden-variety crazy, not 12-gauge in the mouth, defecate in the neighbor’s mailbox, all humanity is a robot crazy. (Okay, sure, there may have been one minor incident involving excrement in the neighbor’s mailbox, but to be fair, that guy was a jerk. He had it coming.)

Here you’ll find out that the nice lady’s name is Sally. Sally dreams of owning goats and miniature ponies and loves pink foam shoes. You’ll learn that the older of the two good boys, Eli, adores playing soccer and urinating in the front yard. You’ll learn that the other good boy, Slade, blasted into this life very early and very small. He almost didn’t make it.

You’ll read about our dogs, who always need baths. You’ll read about our cat, who needs a brain.

And you’ll figure out that the goofy man is me, the odd job who oozes bad chemicals and writes these posts.

Thanks for stopping by. Please leave comments, and if you find yourself in Texas, please don’t take a dump in our mailbox.

    Hey Craig,

Just wanted to let you know I read a lot of your blog tonight.
I was lost in it really. I forgot I was going to watch a movie, I forgot I was tired, I remembered Austin and wondered where your home lies to Guadalupe Ave which is all I really recall, well that and 6th st. I wondered when you got mugged after reading your non-fiction prose. I wondered what you did for a living besides what you do in your life, technical writing is what, and you got a graduate degree in English?
I thought you and Sally look so healthy and you sound like a more mature dude I once knew, but still the same dude.
I would love to read more of your stuff. I don’t blog, well not yet, no desire, but I have journaled for years now and enjoy it a lot. It helps.
Good to see how Slade is doing, and thought it was awesome that you are/were coaching basketball for kids. Inspiring really. I can relate to the loss of your cousin Timmy and old biking friend, I’ve lost a couple friends along the same lines.
Hope Jose has been restricted from Sally’s school by now. Haven’t heard from Lawnsby since I last saw him a couple years ago. His phone’s disconnected and his email’s changed.

Anyways, good to get indulged in an old friend’s life. Enjoy your writing style.

    Nik

I’m writing a little, but I haven’t submitted or posted anything in a while. I should, of course. So should you. Are you writing?
